Beauty Pageant 2023 – Nominate your favourite

Green spaces encourage physical activity, outdoor recreation and positive social interaction.

The same applies to our entire local environment; its beauty attracts people and evokes emotion and pleasure.  Walking around town in the good weather this summer and enjoying all the beautiful things it has to offer has been an inspiration to many residents, as the town has never been as beautiful as it is this year, and the residents play a large part in that.

Awards for great gardens

The Environment and Executive Council has decided to award recognition for beautiful gardens, as well as for beautiful and tidy houses in the town, beautiful new buildings or streetscapes.  Beauty can be diverse and have many manifestations, and for that reason, projects that have enlivened our community or brought joy can also be considered. We would welcome a wide range of nominations, as we think there is nothing more enjoyable than recognising what is good.  Although summer is over and autumn is just around the corner, the gardens and the surroundings are no less beautiful at this time of year. 

Deadline for submitting nominations is 25 August.

The selection for the awards is based in part on submitted nominations, and residents, visitors, staff of businesses and organisations in Hafnarfjörður, and others interested are encouraged to nominate the person they consider to be the best. The deadline for submitting nominations is until and including 25th August nk. to the email address: berglindg@hafnarfjordur.is or through The council's feedback portal with a picture. 

Awards will be presented at a ceremony at the end of the summer!
