Partnership with the Marketing Bureau of the Capital Region signed
A two-year partnership agreement between the City of Hafnarfjörður and the Marketing Agency of the Capital Region ses. was recently signed by Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the Mayor, and Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir, the Managing Director of the marketing agency. The marketing body is a platform for marketing and developing the capital region as a destination as a whole, thereby achieving greater synergies and better results.
Special emphasis is placed on boosting economic activity and increasing foreign exchange earnings.
A two-year partnership agreement between the City of Hafnarfjörður and the Marketing Agency of the Capital Region ses. was recently signed by Mayor Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir and Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir, Managing Director of the marketing agency. The marketing body is a platform for marketing and developing the capital region as a destination as a whole, thereby achieving greater synergies and better results. The aim of the agreement, which has now been signed, is to develop and market the destination of Hafnarfjörður as a whole, in close and active dialogue and cooperation with the other municipalities in the capital region. Municipal institutions related to tourism, such as tourism, culture and sports organisations, are automatically members of the agency.
The main focuses of the collaboration are as follows:
- To promote awareness and knowledge of the destination and everything the area has to offer, for tourists and residents alike.
- To develop, shape and foster collaboration and synergies on tourism matters in the capital region between local authorities, the business community, the government and support services.
- To enhance the destination's competitiveness and resilience in the global competition.
- To foster an agreement between residents, the business community and local authorities on matters concerning the tourism industry.
- To strengthen the foundations and development of the tourism industry, improve the region's image and increase demand for all types of services and business activities.
- To manage marketing and promotional activities, destination development and promote professionalism.
- To be an advocate and a unifying figure for the tourism industry in the capital region.
A platform for collaboration between local authorities, government and tourism in the region.
The agency is the marketing and destination board for the capital region and is a collaborative platform for the region's municipalities, government, and the tourism industry. By definition, a destination marketing organisation is a regional service unit run by public and private bodies whose main role is to support tourism in the relevant region and ensure that it develops in line with the wishes of the local population, with sustainability as its guiding principle. The Capital Region Marketing Office was established on 3rd April following a decision to market the capital region as a single destination. The Marketing Bureau is a destination marketing organisation for the entire capital region and thus the formal joint platform for marketing and development of the Capital Region destination. The founding bodies are the Association of Capital Region Municipalities (SSH) and the Capital Region Tourist Board.
