Saturday, 4th November, 1 pm - 3 pm We invite children and families to come and take part in creative hat-making workshop in connection with the ongoing autumn exhibition at Hafnarborg, A landscape for the chosen, where the possibilities of escapism are examined.

Sól Hansdóttir, a fashion designer and one of the participants in the exhibition, will lead the workshop, where participants will create a hat with an artistic design under her guidance. The workshop will explore when a hat becomes more than just a simple, functional head covering, and how it can be seen as a sculpture or a work of art in its own right. All materials for the creation will be provided by Hafnarborg.

Sol Hansdóttir Born in 1994, they graduated with an MA in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins in London in 2021. She often upcycles materials she finds around her, giving them new life in garments designed with simplicity and intuition as her guiding principles. Her graduation project, Three theories of evil, received the L'Oréal Professionnel creative award and laid the foundation for her unique design process. Her designs have been shown, among other places, at London Fashion Week and in the Gerðarsafn in Kópavogur.

The workshop takes place in the Pharmacy on the first floor of the museum, and children are advised to be accompanied by an adult. As usual, participation in the art workshops is free of charge for visitors, as is admission to the museum's exhibitions. You are very welcome.
