Come home to the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður at Advent
Hafnarfjörður welcomes Christmas with its annual Christmas village, full of joy, delicious treats and fun Christmas wares, a splendour of lights and a world of wonder in Hellisgerði, Hjartasvelli and so much more. The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður will be opened with a festive programme on Thorsplani on Friday, 17th November, when the lights are switched on on the Cuxhaven Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is a gift from Cuxhaven, Hafnarfjörður's twin town in Germany, and will illuminate the Christmas Village in December.

- 18:25 Lil Curly and Háski premiere a new Christmas song
- At 18:30, the German Ambassador, the Mayor of Hafnarfjörður and the Chairman of the Hafnarfjörður-Cuxhaven twinning association will light the lights on the Cuxhaven Christmas tree.
- At 18:40, Rakel Björk Björnsdóttir will perform several Christmas songs.
- At 18:50, Sigríður Thorlacius and Guðmundur will perform Christmas songs.
The host of the evening is Lil Curly.

The Christmas village at Thorsplan in Hafnarfjörður will be open every weekend in Advent; Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. until Christmas, and until 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Village is a hive of festive activity, and the beautifully decorated Christmas houses of Hafnarfjörður have long been nationally renowned for a variety of exciting gifts, gourmet treats, crafts and design. It's the perfect place to find the ideal Christmas present while enjoying delicious food and drink to warm you from the inside out. Father Christmas visits on Saturdays, and Grýla will be roaming the town on Sundays.
Strandgata, from Lækjargata to Linnetstíg, becomes a pedestrianised street while the Christmas Village is open. This is done to spread pedestrian traffic around the city centre and ensure the safety of visitors.
