The Innovation Centre of Hafnarfjörður and the Hafnarfjörður Public Library are organising a gingerbread house competition during Advent!

A fun opportunity for individuals, families and groups of friends to get together and create beautiful and fun houses from gingerbread and other sweets. The houses are intended to be made from edible materials, with gingerbread as the main component. It doesn't matter whether the dough is homemade or shop-bought – it's all about what works and having fun together. At Hafnarfjörður Library, you can find all sorts of beautiful and clever books for inspiration, and you can borrow baking cutters.
Handover and final assembly of the houses will take place on the 1st floor of the Menntasetrið við Lækinn – where the Innovation Centre of Hafnarfjörður is currently located, on Thursday, 14th December between 17:00 and 19:00. (If this time is not suitable, please feel free to get in touch to see if another time can be arranged!)

The houses will be open to all for viewing:

Friday, 15 December from 5 pm to 7 pm
Saturday, 16th December from 1 pm – 3 pm
Hot chocolate and gingerbread biscuits will be on offer for visitors and passers-by! The winner of the competition will be announced on Thorsplan on Sunday, 17th December – a distinguished panel of judges from Hafnarfjörður will select the best house. The winning house will then be moved to the Library to be on display until after the New Year!
