Friday, 19th April at 6 p.m. will Maria Magnúsdóttir's Blues Band will appear at the next Afternoon Tones in Hafnarborg, and Maria's Blues Band is a newly-formed band. The band consists of the great singer Maria Magnúsdóttir, the veteran Andrés Þór Gunnlaugsson on guitar, Birgir Steinn Theodorsson, who handles the bass with sheer brilliance, and the versatile Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir on drums.

The evening's programme will feature old blues songs in new arrangements, alongside new material that touches on the golden age of soul music. The band will also honour artists such as Robert Johnson, Bessie Smith, Etta James, Beth Hart and Tom Waits.

The concert lasts for about an hour and is free of charge.

The concert series is sponsored by the City of Hafnarfjörður, the Rannís Music Fund and the FÍH Cultural Fund.
