The transport service for older people will be enhanced from 15 May. Twice as many journeys will be available, increasing from 8 to 16. The council is thus responding to a report prepared by the Older People's Council for the Family Council, and thanks the council for its thorough work. The changes are being made in the fight against loneliness and isolation among older people, and more opportunities for human interaction are being provided through day care and social activities.
The service will become more user-friendly and be improved. The aim is to ensure increased social participation for people. The service's tariff structure is also changing. Payment for the service will be means-tested. Those on low incomes will pay the standard bus fare, while those on higher incomes will pay 1,100 krónur per journey.

Older people who cannot use the bus can get a transport service to get to the doctor, physiotherapy, rehabilitation or day care.
Who is eligible for the elderly transport service?
Residents in Hafnarfjörður who are 67 years of age or older. Other requirements are:
- Living independently.
- Don't own a car.
- Unable to use public transport.

How to book a ride?
It is possible to order either on the website minibuses or call 599 6084. Orders must be placed at least two hours in advance. If it is less than 24 hours until the trip, it is best to call. The phone line is open on weekdays from 7 am to 3 pm, and at weekends from 7 am to 4 pm.
What time is the drive?
The service runs daily from 06:30 to 00:00. On major public holidays, it runs from 10:00 to 22:00.
