Sunday, 9th June at 2 p.m. will Gudny Gudmundsdottir, an artist, will be welcoming visitors and talking about her work at her newly opened exhibition, Cassio Peau, which is on display at Hafnarborg this summer. The exhibition features mostly new and recent works by the artist, created on paper and in clay, as well as video works. She mirrors herself in the works, drawing out reflections on a wounded ego, self-aggrandisement and narcissism, drawing inspiration from Greek mythology.

The viewer steps into an ambiguous world, where titles in different languages (German, French, English and Icelandic), inscriptions and numerous references to beings and phenomena from the classical world can be found. The works then move us back and forth in time, prompting us to ponder internal connections or relationships, as they form a kind of constellation or cluster that perhaps offers more questions than answers.

Guðný Guðmundsdóttir (b. 1970) graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 1993, the Hamburg University of Fine Arts in 2001, and has worked as an artist ever since. In her artistic practice, she works with media such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and photography. Gudny lives and works in Berlin.

Free admission – all are welcome.
