GETA's giant market with free clothes and items for refugees

This is the third time that GETA – a charity has organised this charity event, which has proven to be a hugely important way of getting clothes and items from the local community directly into the hands of refugees. The arrangement is such that on arrival, the guests receive a certain number of vouchers which they can use to shop. This way, refugees can choose items and shop for what they need with dignity and respect, while also feeling the warmth and support of the community.

Growing in popularity year on year

In 2022, the market had 200 visitors, but in 2023, that number doubled to 400. We are expecting at least as many this year, if not more. It takes a lot of work to organise such an event properly, but it is carried out by at least 30 volunteers in addition to the permanent staff of GETU – a charity.

  • Date: 26 October 2024

The Collection

Both individuals and businesses can donate items to the market. Both new and well-maintained used items are welcome. Items on offer will include clothing and shoes for all ages, toiletries, small household items and electrical appliances, as well as other small items for the home.
