Hafnarfjarðarbær hefur umsjón með Jólaþorpinu en Jólaþorpið er jólamarkaður að evrópskri fyrirmynd. Jólaþorpið hefur sett svip sinn á mannlífið í miðbæ Hafnarfjarðarinnar í rúm tuttugu ár. Þorpið hefur slegið í gegn og laðað gesti alls staðar frá.
Opening hours
The Christmas Village opens on Friday, 14 November 2025.
- Open Fridays until Christmas from 5 pm - 8 pm.
- Open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 8 pm.
- Open on Christmas Eve from 1 pm to 9 pm.

There are plenty of parking spaces in the centre of Hafnarfjörður. If a space cannot be found close to the town centre, you can park in various locations and walk, for example:
- The music school, 350 metres
- The sports hall on Strandgata, 500 metres
- The Learning Centre by the Stream, 500 metres
- Flensborg School in Hafnarfjörður, 950 metres
Snyrtingar fyrir gesti eru fyrir aftan Bæjarbíó. Almenningssalerni eru einnig á Bókasafni Hafnarfjarðar, í Byggðasafni Hafnarfjarðar, í Hafnarborg og á 2. Hæð í Verslunarmiðstöðinni Firði.
The Strand (from Lækjargata to Reykjavíkurvegur) will be transformed into a pedestrianised street and will therefore be closed to car traffic during the opening hours of the Christmas village on the following days and times until 23 December 2024:
- Every Friday From 14th November – closed from 5pm-8pm
- All weekends From 14th November – closed from 1pm to 6pm
- On St. Thomas's Day 23. desember – lokað frá 13-21
- The car park at the library Everything will be closed from 23 October to 5 January.
Ruslatunnur eru víða á svæðinu ásamt söfnunartunnum fyrir dósir og flöskur – göngum vel um bæinn okkar á meðan Jólaþorpið er opið – sem og aðra daga.
Hafnarfjörður advises those who wish to fly drones to refer to Article 12 of the regulation on the operation of remote-controlled aircraft. The first article states that it is forbidden to fly a remote-controlled aircraft over a crowd of people.
To ensure the safety of visitors to the Christmas village, a plan has been drawn up for all parties involved in security on the site.
The Christmas Village organising committee has been working in close cooperation with, among others, representatives from the fire brigade, ambulance service and the police. Particular attention has been paid to the organisation of the area and potential incidents, the response of the police, fire brigade, ambulances and other emergency services, as well as their roles and responses.
