THROUGHBREEZE, RAIN AND CALM – Einar Lövdahl at the Museum Night

Welcome to a triple-part author's evening at Hafnarfjörður Library for Museum Night, where the guest of the evening will be Einar Lövdahl – a writer, musician and Icelandic scholar.

At the beginning of the programme, Einar will give a brief account of the novel. Through draught, which was published by Mál og menning last year, and read an extract from the book. Afterwards, he will perform original songs with wry lyrics about an offended man, restlessness and daydreaming, and the greyness of the capital region, to name but a few things.

To celebrate Þorrablót, Einar will round off the programme with a light-hearted talk on swearing in modern Icelandic – and, funnily enough, Einar's BA dissertation in Icelandic was on the swear word „fokk“ and related words in a linguistic context. Should „shit“ be included in the Icelandic dictionary? Why is it so common for Icelanders to invoke the dark lord? How has „fuck“ made its way into the beloved, mellifluous language?
