In my view: Shadow Theatre – a multilingual storytelling workshop
On Sunday 11 October from 1 pm to 3 pm, Hafnarborg and GETA are hosting a multilingual storytelling workshop where participants will create characters and tell…
Sunday, 23 February at 2 pm We welcome you to an artist and curator talk with Danny Rolph, Joel Tomlin and Vanessa Jackson who all have works in the exhibition Pause. Then it will Mika Hannula, who is curating the exhibition alongside Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson, will lead the conversation, in which the artists will discuss their creative process and the works on display. The conversation will be in English.
The exhibition Pause focuses on art as a process and its ability to connect with the viewer and its environment. It also raises questions about what happens when we are faced with works that require us to participate, be influenced, and dwell in the moment. Works that, in their sincerity and intimacy, take risks and challenge us to slow down and immerse ourselves in the experience.
Danny, Joel and Vanessa approach these questions in their own way. Danny and Vanessa adapt their work to the space and context, where geometric, abstract forms take centre stage. Joel, meanwhile, works with symbols and forms that create their own visual language when combined. Like the exhibition itself, their works compel us to pause.
The book is published alongside the exhibition. Lingering, with articles by Mika Hannula. The editor is Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson and the book's design was handled by Sigrún Sigvaldadóttir. The publisher is Hunang and the publication is supported by Myndstef and Hafnarborg.
Free admission – see you at Hafnarborg.
