The service centre at Strandgata 6-8
„Wow, I never even dreamed this would turn out so well,“ said Anna Bára Gunnarsdóttir, the service centre manager, at the opening of our new service centre for residents of Hafnarfjörður last week. An open house was then held on National Day, a sort of dress rehearsal. The service centre then opened at its new location at 8 a.m. on 18 June.
Mayor Valdimar Víðisson also gave a speech at the opening. „We have long talked about the house of the future and this is the first phase of that, and it was quite clear that the service centre needed to be in the first phase,“ he told staff who were celebrating the new service centre together on 16 June. „Congratulations on the improved facilities, Anna, and to you all.“
It has been over 20 years since the town first opened a service centre. Much has changed in Hafnarfjörður since then. For example, the population has increased significantly by 52%, from 20,720 to 31,525.
The service desk has now moved to Strandgata 8-10 and shares an entrance with Íslandsbanki, which is still in its original location. The entrance is on the corner of Strandgata and Linnetstígs.
- Opening hours are between 8 am and 4 pm.
