Hafnarfjörður is advertising for the position of foreman in Hafnarfjörður's Summer School and Service Centre 

The Work School is seeking ambitious and responsible individuals to fill the position of foreman this summer. The role is temporary and lasts for 2–4 months between May/June and July/August.

This is a fun job with young people. The supervisors of the Work Club are the next senior managers to the team leaders, who lead groups of teenagers in a variety of tasks related to town maintenance and tidying up. The Summer Work Scheme has around 30 team leaders over the summer and provides summer employment and work experience for over 1,000 young people aged 14–17. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Work planning
  • General administration and support for the work of the Work School's group leaders.
  • Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.

Competency requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Knowledge of supervision and gardening is an advantage.
  • Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
  • Initiative and autonomy in work methods
  • General computer skills

Groundskeepergroup in the Service Centre

Applications are invited for two foremen for summer work supervising the Work Experience Centre's mowing crew. The period of employment is for the entire summer, from mid-May to August. This is an outdoor role. The foreman is responsible for their mowing crew, manages on-site tasks, completes timesheets for the crew, and oversees the mowing crew's machinery and equipment.

Maintenance Supervisorgroup in the Service Centre

A foreman is sought for summer work supervising the maintenance team at the Work School. The period of employment is for the entire summer, from mid-May until August. This is an outdoor role. The foreman is responsible for their team, manages projects on site and prepares timesheets for the team.

Workshop manager, flowerMahóps in the Service Centre

A foreman is sought for a summer position supervising the flower group at the Work School. The position is for the entire summer, from mid-May to August. This is an outdoor role. The foreman is responsible for their group, manages tasks on site, and prepares work reports for the group.

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hlíf Trade Union.
