The town council today confirmed a resolution from the Family Council of 28th August, expressing its full willingness to participate in the government's project regarding the reception and assistance of groups of refugees.
The town council instructed the mayor to continue dialogue with the national government regarding the role and involvement of the Borough of Hafnarfjörður in the project, where, among other things, the town's recent experience of receiving refugees will be taken into account.
The mayor was also tasked with keeping the town council informed of the progress of the negotiations while they are ongoing, and then presenting a detailed, timed and cost-estimated plan once a conclusion has been reached.
