The ice rink in front of the Bæjarbíó opens on 10 November.
In November and December, the City of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with Bæjarbíó, will operate Hjartasvellið, a 200-square-metre ice rink for young people of all ages. The rink was opened during Advent last year, and many people came to enjoy skating together in the heart of Hafnarfjörður.

In November and December, the City of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with Bæjarbíó, will operate the Heart Rink, a 200-square-metre ice rink for young people of all ages. The rink was opened last year during Advent, and many people came to enjoy skating together in the heart of Hafnarfjörður. This year, the Heart Rink will be located directly opposite Bæjarbíó, outside the Hafnarfjörður Library. This location will create a lovely link between the Christmas Village in the town centre and the light display in Hellisgerði. After a skate, it's the perfect spot to pop into the Hafnarfjörður Library to warm up with a good book.
The ice rink will be open from 10 November – 30 December.
100% eco-friendly and 100% fun
The heart slide is 100% eco-friendly, as neither water nor electricity is used to freeze it. The rink is built on specially designed synthetic ice plates that have the same properties as real ice, offering great fun, an experience and exercise for the whole family. The skating trips are now on sale at tix.is and include skate and helmet hire. The 3 p.m. tours on Thursdays and Fridays are free, but the tour must always be booked at Tickets.is
The ice rink will be open as follows
- Thursdays from 3pm to 9pm
- Fridays from 3pm to 9pm
- Saturdays from 12 pm - 9 pm
- Sundays from 12-19
The format is simple:
- You book your skating tour and skate heart-swelling.is and www.tix.is (The ice skating trip can only be guaranteed by purchasing tickets in advance online)
- Each skating session is 40 minutes and starts on the hour.
- It is important to arrive in good time to avoid queues.
- Free skating every Thursday and Friday at 3 p.m. (booking is still required)
- You can buy up to eight trips for 3,600 kr in a special family package, and the discount is calculated automatically in the basket.
