Lækur is a haven for individuals with mental health issues. The haven recently moved to Staðarberg 6, and the facilities are now superb. One of Læk's main roles is to be a safe and welcoming space for people aiming to reduce social isolation, encourage interaction with others, and strengthen their mental and physical health, where everyone can enjoy themselves.

One of Læk's main roles is to be a safe and good platform for people with
with the aim of reducing social isolation and promoting interaction with others
and to strengthen mental and physical health, where everyone can enjoy themselves. At Læk is
breakfast, lunch and coffee are served for a small charge. On-site there is
also laundry and bathing facilities.

Entertainment and education
on an equal footing

Lækur is not a conventional treatment centre or institution, but
a venue where the emphasis is on creating a homely atmosphere
on an equal footing. Various types of entertainment and education are offered on a daily basis.

gambling. Guests themselves have a great influence on shaping the programme and thus have
e.g. courses in soap making, cosmetics making, and fudge making have been offered,
cooking, jewellery making, visual arts and pottery. In the new year, it is planned to set up
to cultivate a vegetable garden and look after four hens in the back garden

the activities, as there is a strong desire for everyone to be able to find something interesting
to its advantage, with creativity and design as its guiding principles. Also on offer will be
user-led groups for individuals with anxiety and/or a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
