A new town council takes office today.

Councillors of the Independence Party and the Progressive Party
and independent parties in Hafnarfjörður have reached an agreement to form a majority in
The town council. The partnership is based on a programme for government which will be presented in more detail at
the first meeting of the new town council at 17:00 today.

Ágúst Bjarni Garðarsson will be chairman of the town council and
Kristinn Andersen will become the mayor and then Rósa
Guðbjartsdóttir, leader of the Independence Party and outgoing chair of the town council, mayor
