New screen dedicated at Ásvallalaug 

Christmas tournament with a candle-lighting ceremony in Advent   

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður has laid Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club to a new and impressive screen at Ásvallalaug, which is already in use as part of timekeeping, presentations and various event-related activities. The screen was, for example, used at the annual SH and Íþróttafélagsins Christmas tournament.  fjord which was held on Saturday, 9th December last. On that occasion, the screen was formally handed over and inaugurated by Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the Mayor of Hafnarfjörður. This Christmas tournament is a tradition for the clubs, and the competition begins in the morning with a paper boat race for the younger swimmers.  

Timing equipment and increased opportunities for media coverage  

A new screen and its associated systems open up significant opportunities for broadcasting and transform the possibilities for promotion, live streaming and participation directly from the poolside at swimming competitions. The timing equipment is the same type as the equipment that was previously in Ásvallalaug, and the club has many years of experience using it at swimming competitions. This is therefore a renewal of equipment, as well as the purchase of touch pads in addition to the existing timing touch pads. All swimming clubs in Iceland use the same type of timing equipment, the Quantum timing system. The timing equipment is certified by FINA (International Swimming Federation), and is therefore legal and valid equipment used at swimming competitions all over the world. The screen can also be used by the swimming pool as an information screen and for special events such as film screenings.
