Change to the arrangement of the 2020 fast days

There will be a change to this year's collection days: containers for garden waste will be placed at all of the council's primary schools. The containers will be at the schools from the morning of Thursday, 21st May until 5 p.m. on Sunday, 24th May. Residents of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to make use of this service or to take their bags directly to Sorpa. Please note that garden waste must not be put into bags in the bin; instead, the bags must be emptied into the bin. Residents are encouraged to use recycled packaging or reusable bags when cleaning up. It is also ideal, where possible, to collect garden waste in a compost heap in a convenient spot in the garden and use it for composting.

From 21st to 24th May, clean-up days are taking place in Hafnarfjörður under the heading Let's clean up Hafnarfjörður residents in Hafnarfjörður can then dispose of garden waste in a container at the local primary school. Residents in all neighbourhoods of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to take an active part in the clean-up, and it is ideal to get to work in the garden, prune bushes and flowerbeds in the run-up to and during the clean-up days. Clean-up days are already underway for many residents, as the weather, more time at home and the current situation in society have encouraged a spirit of enterprise and a desire for the outdoors. Residents who have already placed bags at their property boundaries are kindly asked to take them directly to Sorpu or to be patient until the containers are placed at the schools on Thursday, 21st May.

Change in the arrangement of cleaning between years
