About a seven-day delay in rubbish collection

Working outside of normal service hours to catch up on delays.

Residents have not been spared the significant disruption and delays to rubbish collection in recent days. Initially, snowfall and the condition of the roads, as well as the bank holidays over the Christmas period, caused the delays. Additionally, technical issues and equipment failures have had a significant impact, making it more difficult to catch up on the delays. Residents are still urged to ensure their bins are accessible so that collection crews can empty them when the lorry passes through the area.

Collection of kerbside bins according to schedule

Due to the weather and breakdowns, the collection of kerbside bins has also fallen behind schedule, and bins at most neighbourhood sites are already full. Contractors are working on the collections and it is hoped that everything will be back on schedule before the weekend. While the collections are being carried out, residents, particularly in Hafnarfjörður, are asked to refrain from using the kerbside containers and to use SORPA's recycling centres instead.
