Active Week

During the week of 23-29 May, the Icelandic Youth Federation is holding an activity week in Iceland. Hafnarfjörður is taking part in the municipalities' swimming competition, which takes place all week in Ásvallalaug, Suðurbæjarlaug and the Swimming Pool. Participants record how many metres are swum each day on a form available at reception. the swimming pools and thus register their journeys and take part on behalf of Hafnarfjörður. We therefore encourage all residents to make their way to the pools and take part, but swimming training and school swimming do not count.

Number Walking and cycling route run through Hafnarfjörður, which are ideal for outdoor activities for the whole family, and during Active Week you will be able to take part in a bike scavenger hunt around the town's recreational areas. The library.

During Active Week, everyone should be able to find an activity to suit them. The outdoor recreational facilities in the vicinity of Hafnarfjörður are unique, and we encourage residents to make use of the diverse outdoor areas for their health and wellbeing. For example, you could take the family to the mountain and walk up Helgafell, registering your name in the visitors„ book at the summit. There are also numerous Open play and football pitches all over town.

The UMFÍ's Active Week is an annual public health campaign which aims to promote the benefits of taking part in physical activity and sport. 

With over a million participants in 2015, MOVE WEEK became Europe's largest public health campaign, aiming to increase the number of the continent's residents who exercise regularly.
