The city's institutions will be closed from midday on 19 June, but all emergency services will be available. All the city's nurseries will be closed from midday on that day. The City of Hafnarfjörður wishes to encourage its employees to take part in the celebrations.
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved at its meeting on 24 April that employees of the municipality of Hafnarfjörður will be given the afternoon of 19 June 2015 off in celebration of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in Iceland.
Organised celebrations are planned throughout the country on this day, and by giving staff the day off, they are given the opportunity to take part in them.
