The Board of the ÍBH Elite Athletes' Fund today awarded grants to ÍBH member clubs for major championships in 2015. This year, eighteen projects in the senior categories and sixteen in the youth categories were deemed eligible for funding..

The board of the ÍBH Elite Sports Fund today allocated grants to the member clubs of ÍBH for major championships in 2015 in the senior, junior and youth categories.  The board of the fund deemed eighteen projects in the adult categories and sixteen in the junior/youth categories to be eligible for funding this year.

The role of the ÍBH Achievement Fund is to operate in accordance with its regulations, which cover the following: travel grants, major championship achievement grants, achievement grants for European club competitions, and fitness grants for young and promising athletes. The fund's board assessed all applications received and decided that eighteen projects in the senior categories and sixteen projects in the junior/youth categories were eligible for funding.

The projects that receive a grant are as follows:

Hafnarfjörður Dance Sports Club, which had competitors at the World Championship in 10 Dances and the European Championship in 10 Dances in the adult category. Sigurður Már Atlason and Jóna Kristín Benediktsdóttir. Grant amount: kr. 600,000.- European Youth Latin Championship and Youth Standard World Championship. Kristinn Þór Sigurðsson, Harpa Steingrímsdóttir, Sindri Guðlaugsson and Anitu Ros Kingo Andersen. Grant amount: kr. 240,000.- The total amount allocated for the club's projects in 2015 is kr. 1,170,000.-

Sports Club Fjörður, which had a competitor at the ICP – World Championships for Disabled Swimmers in the adult category. Kolbrún Alda Stefánsdóttir. Grant amount: kr. 150,000. Total amount allocated for the club's projects in 2015 is kr. 320,000.

Keilir Golf Club, which had competitors at the Men's and Women's European Team Championships and the Men's European Individual Championships. Rúnar Arnórsson, Axel Bóasson, Gísli Sveinbergsson, Anna Sólveig Snorradóttir and Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir. Grant amount: kr. 900,000 for the Men's European Championship. Gísli Sveinbergsson and Hennig Darri Þórðarson. Grant amount: kr. 120,000. In total, kr. 1,345,000 has been allocated for the club's projects in 2015.

BH Tennis Section, which had a competitor at the Women's Tennis Fed Cup in Montenegro. Hjördís Rósa Guðmundsdóttir. Grant amount: kr. 150,000. Total amount allocated for the association's projects in 2015 is kr. 150,000.

The Riding Club Sörli, which had competitors at the Icelandic Horse World Championships in Herning, Denmark. Eyjólfur Þorsteinsson. Grant amount: kr. 150,000. Total amount allocated for the association's projects in 2015: kr. 150,000.

FH Athletics Department, which had competitors at the Men's European Indoor Championships and the Men's and Women's European Winter Throws Championships. Trausti Stefánsson, Hilmar Örn Jónsson and Vigdís Jónsdóttir. Grant amount: kr. 450,000.- European Youth Olympic Festival, U-20 and U-23 European Championships. Hilda Steinunn Egilsdóttir, Þórdís Eva Steinsdóttir, Hilmar Örn Jónsson, Vigdís Jónsdóttir, Stefán Velemir and Arna Stefanía Guðmundsdóttir. Grant amount: kr. 360,000. Total grants awarded for the department's projects in 2015: kr. 1,625,000.

Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club, which had competitors at the World Championships in the 50m pool and the European Championships in the 25m pool. Hrafnhildur Lúthersdóttir and Aron Örn Stefánsson. Grant amount: kr. 300,000.- European Games, Youth Olympic Programme and the European Youth Olympic Festival. Harpa Ingþórsdóttir and Ólafur Sigurðsson. Grant amount: kr. 120,000. Total grants awarded for the club's projects in 2015 amount to kr. 900,000.

Björk Taekwondo Club, which had competitors at the U-21 European Championship: Sigurður Pálsson and Gabríel Örn Grétarsson. Grant amount: kr. 120,000. Total amount allocated for the association's projects in 2015: kr. 120,000. 

In total, the Afreksmannasjóður has now allocated kr. 3,660,000.

The fund paid in the year 2015:

Haukar Handball Section, which had competitors in the European Club Competition for 3 rounds. Men's senior team. Prize money: kr. 1,800,000. Total amount allocated for the association's projects in 2015 is kr. 2,230,000.

FH Football Club, which had competitors in the European Club Competition for 2 rounds. Men's Senior Team. Prize fund: kr. 1,200,000. Total allocated for the association's projects in 2015: kr. 1,200,000.

A total of kr. 6,660,000 has been allocated for 2015 for achievement projects, in addition to grants from the travel fund amounting to kr. 4,240,000. The total amount allocated for 2015 is therefore kr. 10,900,000.
