In light of the fact that the country's secondary schools will be teaching most of their academic subjects via distance learning, at least for the time being, the staff of the youth centre Hamarinn at Suðurgata 14 have decided to offer a study facility. The Hafnarfjörður Library also offers such a facility.

The Hammer Adstada

It is worth noting that the Hammer is not a quiet place, and if interested parties are seeking such a facility, it is recommended that they Hafnarfjörður Library. The library has study on the 3rd floor, intended for those aged 16 and over. The reading room, which is open on The museum's opening hours, has free wireless internet just like The Hammer.  

Personal infection prevention is the cornerstone of preventing the spread of COVID-19. This includes hand washing, using hand sanitiser, and social distancing (the 2-metre rule). All users of the library and youth centre are asked to observe the 2-metre rule and other public health measures. 

The youth centre Hamarinn will be open in September 2020 as follows:

  • Mondays from 10:00 – 23:00
  • Tuesdays from 10:00 – 17:00
  • Wednesdays from 10:00 – 23:00
  • Thursdays from 10:00 – 17:00
  • Fridays from 10:00 – 19:00
