The application deadline for special sports and leisure grants for children from low-income households has been extended to 15 April 2021. The grant is awarded to primary school children born between 2005 and 2014.
Is your child entitled to a special sports and leisure grant?
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Minister for Social Affairs and Children launched a special scheme in 2020, under which children from lower-income households are entitled to a special sports and leisure grant for the 2020-2021 school year. The grant is provided to primary school children born between 2005 and 2014 who live in households where the total income of the main breadwinner, an individual, couples or cohabiting partners, were on average lower than 740,000 ISK per month between March and July 2020.
The application deadline for these grants has been extended to 15 April 2021.

Check your eligibility for a grant
The grant is a maximum of 45,000 krónur for each child who participates in organised leisure and/or sports activities under the guidance of a coach or instructor. Please note that you can submit receipts for sports and leisure activities paid for at the start of the school year, or from autumn 2020.
