At a joint meeting of all the municipalities in the capital region on Friday, 11th December, a decision was made to cancel the New Year's bonfires that had been planned in the capital region. The decision was taken in light of the fact that social distancing restrictions due to public health measures are set at 10 people, and it is important that the municipalities do not encourage the formation of crowds.

It is clear that Christmas and New Year's will be different for us this year due to COVID-19. Bonfires attract large crowds, and local councils want to show responsibility by cancelling them this year. We are all civil defence; let's continue to work together to reduce infections and get to a better place than we are today. Let's stick to our „Christmas bubbles“ and avoid crowds. We can do this together; solidarity is the best public health measure.
