Action Plan against Noise in Hafnarfjörður 2018-2023
The preparation of an action plan against noise is part of the European Union's Directive on environmental noise (2002/49/EC), which was implemented in Iceland by the Regulation on noise mapping and action plans no. 1000/2005.
The aim is to reduce noise and its undesirable effects.
The action plan is based on the results of the 2012 noise mapping, together with noise maps showing sound levels at a height of 2 m above ground level. The change in traffic volume over the last five years is considered insignificant in terms of noise exposure, and therefore a revision of the 2012 noise maps is not required. The plan aims to reduce noise and its adverse effects.
Approved by the Town Council on 6 March 2019
The action plan was open for consultation from 20 December 2018 to 20 January 2019. Following the consultation period and taking comments into account, the action plan was approved by the Environment and Operations Committee on 27 February 2019 and by the Town Council on 6 March 2019.
