The formal school year for pupils in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools begins on Tuesday, 23rd August with the start of term. Teaching according to the timetable begins on Wednesday, 24 August. The formal school year for pupils in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools begins on Tuesday, 23 August with the start of term. Lessons according to the timetable begin on Wednesday, 24 August. Just over 4,000 children will be starting school in the primary schools of Hafnarfjörður this autumn, of whom approximately 350 are beginning in Year 1.

Porridge, fruit and free school supplies 

Since autumn 2019, all pupils have been able to get free porridge in the morning at school. In addition, a fruit subscription is offered for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack, whether a child is in the after-school club (the afternoon snack is included in the after-school club fee) or not (in which case it is paid for separately).
