Parent Awards 2019

The 2019 Parents' Council Parent Awards were won by the parents of the 10th grade at Víðistaðaskóli. Every year, the Year 10 class at Víðistaðaskóli stages a musical, but this year the musical 'Footloose' was staged with pomp and circumstance from 15th-17th February 2019. The lead-up to such a musical is long and involves a great deal of collaboration between the school and parents. This year, the parents took a huge part and supported their children in a truly unique way. Parents called for increased collaboration with the school, held regular meetings, shared information with other parents, organised the logistics for the musical weekend with the pupils, and looked after the cast, singers, dancers and the band during long rehearsals with pep talks, pats on the back, and encouraging words, along with all sorts of snacks and food and drink to make everyone feel good during a stressful time. The parents who took the lead were: Kristjana Ósk Jónsdóttir, Oddný Ármannsdóttir and Brynhildur Hauksdóttir, Bergþóra Sigurðardóttir, Ragnheiður Anna Georgsdóttir and Lovísa Agnes Jónsdóttir.
