Best decorated houses in Hafnarfjörður 2020

At the weekend, awards were presented for the best-decorated houses and the best-decorated street in Hafnarfjörður. At the beginning of December, residents of Hafnarfjörður and other interested parties were encouraged to put on their big Christmas glasses and submit a nomination for the house in Hafnarfjörður that they think stands out in this year's Christmas decorations.

Guðbjörg Oddný Jónasdóttir, chair of the Culture and Tourism Committee, visited the award winners over the weekend and presented residents with certificates and trees from the Hafnarfjörður Forest Service, with the selection made by the Culture and Tourism Committee of the City of Hafnarfjörður.

47 Austurgata Received recognition for a bright and beautiful decoration by the stream that gives East Street a festive touch.

Furuvellir 19 Awarded for an incredibly ornate and beautiful decoration that is improved upon each year. This is a true labour of love and the most decorated house.

34 Hellisgata was recognised for filling the street with true Christmas cheer, as almost everything that can be decorated has been, and even the car in the driveway has been decorated.

5 Hlíðarbraut Received recognition for a bright and beautiful decoration on a lovely house in an old neighbourhood.

Lækjarhvammur 20 Received an award for a beautiful and lively decoration in Hvammar, full of colour and joy.

Skipalón 21 received an award for a beautifully decorated balcony on a block of flats that is a delight to the eye and catches people's attention

Shelter Avenue 10 received recognition for a tasteful decoration in the North End that complements the house well

9 South Street received an award for creativity in decoration. The garden is exceptionally beautifully decorated, brightening up both the street and the area for pedestrians. Many local residents have been invited to enjoy and experience it, and it is clear that the residents take great pleasure in making their surroundings beautiful.

Svalbarð 2 Awarded for a lively and refreshing display. Great ambition in the decorations here and a wide selection of strings of lights.

Furuvellir 13-25 is the best-decorated street for the third year in a row and receives the much-lauded Christmas shield. The street is exceptionally Christmassy and beautiful, and the residents' community spirit is clearly strong as everyone takes part in decorating.
