This week, awards were presented for the best-decorated houses and best-decorated streets in Hafnarfjörður.

This week, awards were presented for the best-decorated houses and best-decorated streets in Hafnarfjörður. At the beginning of December, residents of Hafnarfjörður and other interested parties were encouraged to put on their big Christmas glasses and submit a nomination for the houses and streets in Hafnarfjörður that stand out in this year's Christmas decorations.
Guðbjörg Oddný Jónasdóttir, chair of the Culture and Tourism Committee, visited the award recipients this week and presented residents with certificates and trees from the Hafnarfjörður Forestry Association, with the selection made by the Culture and Tourism Committee of the City of Hafnarfjörður.

The best decorated houses
Arnarhraun 35 Received an award for the beautifully decorated tree and the fairy lights on the house, which give Arnarhraun a bright and festive atmosphere. This family goes all out at Christmas.
Dvergholt 7 was recognised for its great splendour and keen sense of decoration, which lifts the Christmas spirit in the street.

Einarvellir 5 Acknowledged for a rather large number of series and lights that enliven the neighbourhood. A noteworthy initiative in a block of flats.

Furuvellir 17 Awarded for great ambition and imagination. This must be Father Christmas's workshop; everything is happening here. The pine groves surpass themselves year after year.

Furuvellir 19 Awarded for a beautifully decorated house and great imagination. Light, colour and a true Christmas spirit with a magical touch. They have won an award before and just keep improving every year, which is a great initiative.

Hafravellir 12 They received recognition for their lively decorations, with lots of beautiful and colourful Christmas decorations. Children will certainly enjoy coming to see them.

34 Hellisgata Awarded for a beautiful and bright house on Hellisgata, which is improved upon each year. Here, residents are praised for their initiative.

5 Hlíðarbraut Acknowledged for romantic and beautiful decorations that suit the house well. Warm light and Christmas peace.

Skipalón 21 Received an award for a elaborately decorated platform at a block of flats; this one also received an award last year and has been adding to it since then. It's always uplifting to see this platform in Skipuloni.

9 South Street Awarded for tasteful and beautiful Christmas decorations. There is always a great sense of adventure to all the Christmas decorations, a great variety and a warm Christmas atmosphere; it's lovely to come and see and enjoy.

Sævangur 50 was recognised for beautiful and tasteful decorations that enliven the streetscape.

Throsturás 11 Awarded for stylish and beautiful Christmas lights and a romantic atmosphere.

The best decorated streets
Furuvellir 13-25 – best decorated street 2021
Once again, the residents of this street receive the award plaque. The street is exceptionally festive and colourful, with multicoloured lights and decorations of all kinds. The Christmas cheer on this street is infectious, and a visit to Furuvellir puts you in a truly festive mood. It is said that there is a great sense of community here, with residents helping each other to decorate. The Christmas spirit and goodwill are truly in evidence. Furuvellir is a veritable street of festive cheer, as a visit is sure to put you in a great Christmas mood.
Lækjarhvammur
Recognition and praise for a beautifully decorated street in Hvammarnir; everyone has gone to great lengths to decorate their houses, and a car in one of the gardens even got a lively series of decorations. There is clearly a strong sense of community and a true Christmas spirit in Lækjarhvammur.
Svöluás 2 – 32
Awarded for a tasteful and beautiful street; the bright light from the white series gives the street a lovely and romantic feel. Here, there is warmth and beauty.
