We can often accommodate requests for a specific working pattern, adjust hours to suit other jobs or studies, or offer part-time work. Please state in your application if you are looking for a specific working pattern or part-time work.

Hvaleyrarskóli is looking to hire a School and Leisure Assistant for a 50% position at the Holtasel after-school club.

This is a position that involves providing support and assistance to pupils at the Holtasel after-school club on all weekdays afternoons. After regular school hours, pupils in Years 1 to 4 can attend the Holtasel after-school club. Holtasel is based at the school. It offers a varied after-school programme until 16:30 every weekday, regardless of a child's ability, development or disability. A special emphasis is placed on being inclusive of all groups.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Working with students with specific difficulties 
  • Assisting with general classroom work under the guidance of a teacher 
  • Works at a youth club and on summer and play schemes

Vidistaðaskóli is looking to hire a School and Leisure Assistant on a 25-50% contract for the 2025-2026 school year at the Hraunkot leisure centre.

This is a position that involves providing support and assistance to pupils at the after-school club on all weekdays afternoons, regardless of the children's ability, developmental level, or disability. After regular school finishes, pupils in Years 1 to 4 can attend the Hraunkot after-school club. A wide range of after-school activities are offered until 16:30 every weekday, regardless of a child's ability, developmental level or disability. Hraunvallar Nursery School is located in Völlunum, Hafnarfjörður, in the same building as Hraunvalla School, which promotes an integrated education for children from their first steps in nursery school until the age of sixteen. The school's values, which are reflected in all its work, are friendship, cooperation and responsibility. At Hraunvallar Nursery School, the philosophy of John Dewey is followed, focusing on the active participation of the child in their learning, with an emphasis on play and social engagement. The school uses the SMT (School-wide Positive Behaviour) approach, where desirable behaviour is highlighted with targeted praise and rewards. Clear instructions are a guiding principle, and good communication is actively promoted.

The aim of the Education and Public Health Department is to be a professional and progressive force in education, youth and sports affairs, to provide children and families in the town with a comprehensive service, and to promote continuity in all its work, with the well-being of residents as its guiding principle.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Works towards and is responsible for, together with the nursery manager, ensuring that the nursery school's work is carried out in accordance with the National Curriculum for Early Years and the nursery's own curriculum, that plans for this are made, and that regular evaluation takes place.
  • Assistant to the head teacher and their deputy.
  • Manages the day-to-day organisation of the school's operations, together with the nursery manager.
  • Guides the professional work of each department and provides early support to students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  • Attends parents' meetings, which are held by the nursery school
