The Faculty of Education at the University of Iceland is calling for nominations from the public for good teachers. The purpose of the campaign is to draw the nation's attention to the teaching profession; how interesting and enjoyable it is, and what a significant impact teachers can have on individuals and society. The results of the initiative will be announced at a ceremony at the Faculty of Education's premises at Stakkahlíð on 1 June at 17:00.

Well-known individuals have supported the initiative and, in short videos, they talk about the teachers who have influenced their lives and work. Among them are Ari Eldjárn, Auður Bjarnadóttir, Benedikt Hermann Hermannsson, Illugi Gunnarsson and Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson.

We encourage everyone to take part in this initiative, to identify the qualities that make a good teacher and to honour those who have had a positive impact on their lives.

Get involved and nominate your favourite teacher by 23rd May!

Nominations can be submitted and you can find out more about the initiative at http://www.hafduahrif.is
