Children's well-being matters to us all – Well-being Week has begun
A brand-new leaflet is now available in the primary schools of the City of Hafnarfjörður. It explains where to turn when parents and guardians need help for their children. Well-being Week has begun and runs from 9th to 13th March.
Children's well-being is a priority
Children's services are now integrated for the well-being of children in nurseries, primary and secondary schools in Hafnarfjörður. All children have the right to receive the services they need. However, it can be complicated to know where to turn for the appropriate help. The City of Hafnarfjörður has therefore appointed nine child well-being contacts to all its schools. They connect specialists with the right resources and guide parents in the right direction.
The Capital Region's Wellbeing Week is currently underway. The aim is to draw parents' attention to the new procedures that are in the children's best interests. It highlights the importance of a coordinated effort from all those who work with children and young people, and celebrates the positive developments that have occurred following the introduction of the Welfare Act.

The Althingi has passed a new law on the integration of services for the well-being of children. The main aim of the law is to ensure that children and parents in need have access to appropriate, integrated services without barriers.
The integration of services means that all service providers involved in a child's affairs, both within and outside the school, may share information with each other, in consultation with the parents. A request for, and information about, the integration of services can be made to the child's school's wellbeing coordinator, and both the child and their parents can request a meeting.
