A nomination concerning the Hafnarfjörður Bridge was recently submitted to a Unicef international competition entitled Child Friendly Cities and Local Governments Inspire Awards and the Bridge then takes part in the category Child-friendly social services or child-friendly social services.

The Bridge's approach has been in development since 2018, with the aim of integrating services for Hafnarfjörður's nursery and primary school children and their families. The emphasis is on providing increased services at an earlier stage, with the involvement of interdisciplinary Bridge teams in the nurseries and primary schools.

All information about the Bridge can be found on the town's website.

Practice for the well-being of children

The bridge was selected from numerous entries to take part in the final, where the public will vote, and the winners will be announced on 17 November. The staff of the City of Hafnarfjörður are extremely proud of the Brúarinnar's methodology, which has widely received well-deserved attention. The philosophy, preparation and methodology are, among other things, directly resulting in new Act on the integration of services for the well-being of children which were adopted by the Althingi on 11 June last and will come into force on 1 January 2022.

Votes for Brún can be cast until 14 November.
We encourage the people of Hafnarfjörður and friends of Hafnarfjörður to vote!
