Signing of concession agreements
The cleaning element of the council's tenders carries the greatest weight. Savings of over 89 million kroner in total are being achieved, which amounts to over 356 million over the four-year contract period.
Signatures in connection with new contracts for tenders for services of the City of Hafnarfjörður continue. Last week, a contract was signed with Hópbílar for school transport and with ISS for cleaning and the delivery of meals to senior citizens.

The cleaning tender is delivering savings of over 89 million krónur in total, which amounts to over 356 million over the four-year contract period. The lowest bid was from ISS in Iceland, and their offer was over 8.6 million krónur per month lower than the actual cost in the past year. The tender removed expensive uncertainties and they will be carried out in a different way, a way that will partially reduce the project's monthly return. “
This contract we have just signed with ISS is a very good example of the success that can be achieved when private sector delivery is applied correctly. Competitive tendering is a good thing and serves to keep everyone on their toes, not just the local authority but the service companies involved as well.“ says Haraldur L. Haraldsson at the signing of the contracts. ISS also had the lowest bid for meals for the elderly. That item increased by 8% from the previous contract. The saving on school transport amounts to 2-4%, or just over one million kroner, and it is the same company that has handled school transport to date – Hópbílar – which proved to have the most favourable bid. The cost of school transport was approximately 56 million for the year 2014.
