The opening hours of the swimming pools in Hafnarfjörður have been increasing in recent years. You can swim in the Suðurbæjarlaug and Ásvallalaug from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday. On Fridays until 8 p.m. and Saturdays until 6 p.m. On Sundays, until and including 11 August, the Suðurbæjarlaug is open until 9 p.m. and the Ásvallalaug until 5 p.m.

As such, Ásvallalaug and Suðurbæjarlaug are particularly popular with families, and the younger the children, the more Ásvallalaug, which has a variety of indoor pools and hot tubs, is often the choice, especially during the winter. The water temperature in the swimming pool area is usually around 30°C.

South Bay Swimming Pool Located on the Ring Road in Hafnarfjörður, there is a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool connected to an indoor children's pool. Outside, there are hot tubs, a steam room, a mushroom jet, two water slides and a popular walking path that surrounds the swimming pool grounds.

The swimming centre at Ásvallalaug It houses the newest swimming pool in Hafnarfjörður, which opened in 2008. The swimming centre is one of the largest in the country, with a 50-metre swimming pool which is normally divided into a 25-metre and a 50-metre section. A lift, fitted with a special wheelchair, a wristband and a remote control, is available for anyone who would otherwise find it difficult to get into the larger pools. The pool also has a children's pool and a wading pool for the youngest generation, complete with play equipment. Indoors, there is also a popular water slide, three hot tubs and a steam room. Outside, there are two hot tubs and an excellent sunbathing area for when the weather permits. The activities at the swimming centre are varied, including water polo, in addition to traditional school swimming and club training sessions. volleyball, training for scuba diving clubs, training for kayakers, courses for expectant and new mothers, improved swimming technique courses, baby swimming, aqua aerobics, and the list goes on.

Hafnarfjörður Swimming Pool Herjólfsgata is popular with older people and residents in the vicinity of the pool. It boasts a 25-metre indoor pool and two spacious outdoor pools with jets that are very popular, as well as steam baths that are considered unique and different. The swimming pool is known for its calm atmosphere, while the fun is a little more lively in the other two pools. Please note... The swimming pool is closed until 11 August.
