The new year is off to a good start. A visible and positive development seems to be taking place, particularly within the Hafnarfjörður municipality's nurseries, judging by the number of applications for vacant positions the council is receiving these days. On average, several applications are now received for each position, and there are examples of 14 applications for a single position. 

The stated aim of the council's actions has been to strengthen the nursery school sector, promote its well-deserved respect, reduce the workload and create even better and more attractive working conditions in the town's nurseries. A strong emphasis has been placed on the positive promotion of the work in nurseries, and alongside this, the local authority has increasingly sought to engage those who can see a future in the profession by promoting training contracts and the council's support. It is hoped that the measures outlined in the City of Hafnarfjörður's 2022 budget will further increase popularity and interest.
