Idea competition for future planning
Hafnarfjörður Harbour and Municipality, in collaboration with the Association of Icelandic Architects, are holding an open competition for ideas on the future planning of Flensborg Harbour and the Óseyrar area.
Hafnarfjörður Harbour and the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with the Association of Icelandic Architects, are holding an open competition for ideas on the future planning of Flensborg Harbour and the Óseyrar area, which is currently part of the Suðurhöfn harbour area in Hafnarfjörður. The area is planned to be redeveloped with revised parameters, redefined planning boundaries and a revised master plan for Hafnarfjörður.
The main objective of the competition is to generate ideas for mixed-use, dense development at Flensburg Harbour and the Åseyrar area, in harmony with the surrounding neighbourhoods and port activities, and in keeping with the site's rich history and quality. The development must have a strong connection to the waterfront and provide sheltered areas for social life. Emphasis is placed on good connections to the surrounding area and the city centre. The expansion of the marina is a pressing need, along with good facilities for fishing boats, a sailing club, and the reception of cruise ships.
The competition is open to all. Access to the project website, where all competition details can be accessed, will be provided by the trustee upon registration for participation from 15 January 2018.
