Homework help involves assisting primary school pupils in Years 4 to 10 with their homework, with the aim of supporting and strengthening them in their studies.

Hafnarfjörður Library, in collaboration with the Red Cross in Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær, runs the 'Heilahristingur – Homework Help' project. The service is also available at Hvaleyrarskóli. The support involves helping primary school pupils in years 1–10 with their homework, with the aim of supporting and strengthening them in their studies. Pupils do not need to book in advance; they can just turn up in good time with their work.

Help with reading and homework

Brain-Tumour – Homework Help resumed on Thursday, 19th January at 3 p.m. The help is available once a week, on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Hafnarfjörður Library (basement, accessed via the children's section). The service is also available at Hvaleyrarskóli in collaboration with the Red Cross on Fridays from 13:30 – 15:00.

The homework support consists of providing primary school pupils from Year 1. – 10th grade, assistance with reading and homework with the aim of supporting and strengthening them in their studies, while also giving them the opportunity to learn about the excellent services available to support their learning. Volunteers from the Red Cross in Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær assist and guide the pupils. A special emphasis is placed on children of foreign origin, although of course, everyone who needs help is welcome. There is no charge for the tuition and attendance is not compulsory.
