See the announcement on the Met Office website.

The Met Office issues avalanche forecasts for 5 areas, which give an indication of the conditions in the area. In addition, it is important that travellers assess local conditions for themselves, consider their route choice and take care around so-called landscape traps, such as riverbeds, gullies and cliffs. Avalanche equipment, i.e. a transceiver, shovel and probe, should be standard kit on winter trips. There is currently an unseasonably deep snowpack in the south-western part of the country, and weakness has been found in the snow there. Weakness has also been found in the southern part of the Westfjords.

Further information is available on the avalanche pages of vedur.is.

Let's be careful!
