Contribution to the equality policy

All interested parties are now invited to submit proposals and ideas for content to be included in the City of Hafnarfjörður's equality policy and equality plan. Submissions should be sent no later than 31 January 2016.

Attached is a formal letter from the project's working group, which was appointed by the Hafnarfjörður Town Council.

Dear recipient

A review of the City of Hafnarfjörður's equality policy is currently underway, and a new equality plan is being drawn up. The signatories have been appointed to a working group on the project by the Hafnarfjörður Town Council.

The City of Hafnarfjörður's equality policy aims to combat multiple forms of discrimination. The policy therefore considers factors other than gender, such as origin, disability and age, to name but a few.

Equality issues affect all aspects of society, and therefore we have decided to consult a wide range of stakeholders within the borough to provide us with ideas and suggestions.

We are asking you to send us written suggestions on issues and ideas that you believe should be included in the Equality Policy and/or Equality Plan for Hafnarfjörður for the coming years.

You are welcome to contact others about this matter and forward it to those who might be interested and have input into the policymaking.

Dear recipient

The strategy for equal rights in Hafnarfjörður is currently being reviewed alongside the development of a new plan on the matter. The undersigned have been appointed as a working group for the project on behalf of the Municipal Council of Hafnarfjörður.

The strategy for equal rights in Hafnarfjörður aims to counter multiple discrimination. The strategy is broad and includes factors such as gender, origin, disability and age, to name but a few. Equal rights can be linked to all sectors of society and therefore we have decided to involve a number of individuals within the municipality to provide us with ideas and suggestions.

We kindly ask you to send us written suggestions on issues and ideas you think belong to the strategy and/or the plan of equal rights for Hafnarfjörður for
the coming years.

You are more than welcome to contact one of the appointees and forward this information to those who might be interested and likely to contribute to policymaking. The strategy as it stands today can be found

Subject: Support for actions in the planning of an equality project for the city of Hafnarfjörður.

Dear Sirs and Madams,

In the city of Hafnarfjörður, a re-evaluation of the equality project is currently underway, and a new plan is being introduced. A team of staff has been appointed to this task on behalf of the Hafnarfjörður City Council.

The City of Hafnarfjörður's equality project aims to combat various forms of discrimination, not only on the grounds of gender, but also on the basis of origin, disability, age and other issues. Equality matters concern all sectors of society and, for this reason, we have decided to appeal to as many of the city's residents as possible to gather as many suggestions and ideas as we can.

We kindly request that you send us written proposals concerning the project on gender equality, as well as its plan.

We kindly ask you to pass this message on to others, especially to all those interested in creating a project on gender equality.
