COVID-19: School activities after the Easter break
Face-to-face teaching may resume at all school levels after the Easter holidays with certain restrictions, in accordance with the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer. The regulation is in force from 1 April to 15 April.
On-site learning may resume at all school levels after the Easter holidays with certain restrictions, in accordance with the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer. The accompanying regulation from the Minister of Health on the restriction of school activities was drawn up in consultation with the Minister for Educationand the Ministry of Culture and Education, and essentially follows the orange colour in the colour-coded alert system for school activities, which was introduced following extensive consultation with the school community earlier this winter, except that sports for children of nursery and primary school age outside of school are not permitted. The regulation is in force from 1 April until 15 April.

Pre-schools
- No limit on number or proximity applies to children of preschool age.
- The maximum number of adults is 20 people in a room, but staff may move between rooms.
- Staff must respect a 2-metre distance from one another, or wear a face covering.
- Events are permitted as part of the school's activities with the participation of pupils and staff, but no outsiders.
- Parents and carers should not enter school buildings unless it is absolutely necessary, and must wear a face covering when they do.
Primary schools
- Students are exempt from the social distancing requirement and the mask requirement.
- The maximum number of staff is 20 people in a room, and they may move between rooms.
- Staff must maintain a 2-metre distance from each other and from students, or wear a face covering.
- Events are permitted as part of the school's activities with the participation of pupils and staff, but no outsiders.
- The maximum number of students in a room is 50 and mixing between groups within the same school is permitted.
Music school
- A 2-metre distance must be maintained between staff and students. Otherwise, masks must be worn where possible.
- The maximum number of pupils in the space is 50 children of primary school age.
- Events are permitted for children of nursery and primary school age under the same conditions that apply to their school activities.
- Individuals born in 2004 or earlier may be in a room of a maximum of 20 people, and mixing is permitted.
- Events for individuals born in 2004 are subject to the provision on the performing arts in the regulations on limiting gatherings due to the pandemic.
Secondary schools
- The maximum number of students and staff in a room is 30.
- A 2-metre distance must be maintained between students and staff, or a mask must be worn.
- Mixing of students between groups is permitted and staff may move between rooms.
- Events related to work or social life in secondary school are subject to the provisions on the performing arts in the regulation on the restriction of gatherings due to the pandemic.
Universities
- The maximum number in classrooms and reading rooms is 50.
- A 2-metre social distancing must be maintained between everyone, or a mask must be worn.
- Mixing of students is not permitted.
- Staff may move between rooms.
- No events are permitted in school buildings.
- It is emphasised that sports for children of nursery and primary school age outside of school are not permitted under the current regulations of the Minister of Health on the restriction of gatherings.
