Summer in Hafnarborg

„The summer courses at Hafnarborg are part of highlighting how much is on offer for our young people here in Hafnarfjörður,“ says Unnur Mjöll S. Leifsdóttir, project manager for education and outreach at Hafnarborg in Hafnarfjörður's youth., Fjardarfrétta newspaper, which has now been released.

„Creative work is the foundation for so much. You might not necessarily set out to become an artist as such, but you want to work in a creative field. Then the knowledge that the children gain here and in art lessons elsewhere is put to good use. Yes, human beings are creative beings, and it's easy to apply the lessons learned on these summer courses to life itself in the future,“ she says.

As stated, six courses will be held at Hafnarborg this summer for creative young people. Art courses will run from 15th-19th June and 10th-14th August. Then, an Art and Music course will take place from 22nd-26th July. For children aged 6-9 in the morning and 10-12 in the afternoon. Twelve places on each course; apply via the Vala leisure activities website.

„This is for children who enjoy creating with their hands, who are very thoughtful. We look at nature, the flowers, make brushes from straws. A connection is formed with nature and the children's own inner world,“ she says.

„This will be absolutely brilliant and at a good price.“
