Kilometres is about two friends at parting ways.

Kílómetrar is about two best friends who are heading in different directions in life and are saying goodbye at Keflavik Airport. One of them is going to study abroad and plans to make a new life for himself in a new place. The other is staying in Iceland, moving in with his girlfriend and looking for a job. The script is loosely based on the friends' own experiences of growing up in Iceland and facing that big decision and big step for quite a few people: to move abroad or not? The short film is one long scene set in a single car, all shot in one take. Veteran Eiríkur Ingi Böðvarsson handled the filming and post-production, while Brynjar Unnsteinsson mixed the sound for the film.

Who are Óli Gunnar and Vilberg Andri?

Óli Gunnar and Vilberg Andri met on the art stream at Verslunarskóli Íslands and immediately hit it off through theatre, and were, among other things, together in the video committee, Rjómanum. After graduating from Versló, a period followed in which the friends took on various theatre-related projects and participated in productions. Thus, Óli Gunnar, among other things, directed 'Fyrsta Skiptið' at the Gaflar Theatre with others before he went to the Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Music in England. Around the same time, Vilberg was accepted into the LAMDA Theatre School in London. In the summer of 2021, the friends were looking for summer work and wanted nothing more than to work on a project related to the arts and creativity. They were accepted into Creative Jobs with the City of Hafnarfjörður and used the summer to write, act and develop their idea for a short film amongst a group of creative individuals.
