Would you like to take part in developing a new area?

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður has decided on planning and development for an area known as Hamranes. The area is south of Ásvallabraut, Velli 6 and Skarðshlíð. The area is approximately 25 hectares in size and will be accessed from Ásvallabraut. Developers are sought for the first phase of the area.

Hafnarfjörður is seeking developers for the first phase of the area. Groups are invited to apply; architects in collaboration with designers and builders, community organisations, interest groups and others who may be interested in participating in the ongoing development of this area. The development work concerns plots 1-4. See image:

A foundation for new ideas based on market needs

In recent years, the public debate has featured ideas concerning smaller homes, construction costs, sustainability, recycling, travel costs and alternative forms of living, to name but a few. The planning and development of the Hamraness area aims to open up and create a foundation for new ideas.

Application form on My Pages

The application form can be found at My Pages of the City of Hafnarfjörður. The applicant (company/design team) must, in their application, provide a detailed account of their ability to prepare a detailed plan, design the buildings and construct them. It must submit detailed information on the qualifications and experience of the company/organisation and its staff, as well as information on its financial standing. Hafnarfjörður reserves the full right to assess whether an applicant meets the eligibility requirements based on the information provided with the application. All information will be treated in confidence. Applicants will be invited to a presentation on the project. Applications must be submitted no later than Sunday, 13 October 2019.
