This year, residents of Hafnarfjörður must take their Christmas trees to the SORPA recycling centres themselves. Christmas trees from private individuals are accepted free of charge, but businesses, contractors and institutions pay a reception fee in accordance with the sites' tariff for all waste, including Christmas trees, unless otherwise stated. Christmas trees brought to the recycling centres are sent for further processing, including composting.
