Actress Ebba Katrín Finnsdóttir is the 2024 Artist in Residence of Hafnarfjörður. Ebba Katrín has received well-deserved attention for her acting in theatre and on television. It has become a tradition in Hafnarfjörður to mark the last day of winter with the appointment of the Artist of the Year.

Actress Ebba Katrín Finnsdóttir is the 2024 Artist in Residence of Hafnarfjörður. Ebba Katrín has attracted well-deserved attention in recent months for her performances on stage and on television. A tradition has developed in Hafnarfjörður of marking the last day of winter with the appointment of the town's artist of the year.

We all hope that the title of “Cultural Ambassador of Hafnarfjörður 2024' will be an encouragement for her to continue her success in the theatre."

Ebba Katrín works at the National Theatre and is performing this season in Word against word, Frosti and Ellen B. Her film career is becoming increasingly long. She has acted in, among other things, Romeo and Juliet as she was also one of the songwriters. Also Uglu in The Atomic Power Station - A Retrospective and she received a Gríma Award for it. Ebba Katrín acted in For a few moments at night, Love and Information and The Master and Margarita.

Ebba Katrín graduated from the acting programme at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2018. She first worked at The City Theatre after graduating, where she played Emma in The Doll's House Part 2, Marina in NOW 2019, Ophelia and Laertes in Little Hamlet, and Philippa in the musical Matilda. She started acting young and first took to the stage at Setbergsskóli in Hafnarfjörður. She attended Versló and subsequently wrote and staged the play Daughters at the Gaflar Theatre in 2015. A work she wrote with a group of women about the difficulties of being neither a child nor an adult, neither a girl nor a woman.

She played in Human customs on RÚV, in the film Agnesi Joy, the series Ordinary people 2 and 3. She has then appeared in the short films and The New Year's Eve sketch show. The last few semesters have been fruitful for Ebba Katrín's career. Not only has she received more favourable reviews for the solo show Word against word, which she herself describes as a baptism of fire on stage, but the nation got to know her even better on screen in the series House of.

Ebba Katrín grew up in Hafnarfjörður and spent her childhood there. She speaks highly of the cultural life in Hafnarfjörður. She is a versatile actress, both on television and on stage. When selecting the City Artist of Hafnarfjörður, the Cultural and Tourism Committee calls for nominations from the residents. A large number of nominations are received each year, as Hafnarfjörður has established itself as a cradle of culture and the arts.

Hafnarfjörður is known for its vibrant cultural life, driven by dynamic artists, where the individual, their contribution, creativity and participation play the most significant role. The Town Artist receives 1.5 million in recognition to continue their art.
