The selection of Hafnarfjörður's Sportswoman, Sportsman and Sports Team of the Year took place at the Strandgata sports hall today. Hafnarfjörður's 2023 Achievement Team is the men's and women's first team in athletics at FH. Elín Klara Þorkelsdóttir from Haukar Football Club is the 2023 Female Athlete of Hafnarfjörður and Anton Sveinn McKee from Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club is the 2023 Male Athlete of Hafnarfjörður.

Hafnarfjörður's 2023 Achievement Team is the men's and women's first team in athletics at FH. Elín Klara Þorkelsdóttir from Haukar Football Club is the 2023 Female Athlete of Hafnarfjörður and Anton Sveinn McKee from Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club is the 2023 Male Athlete of Hafnarfjörður. 

Elín Klara Þorkelsdóttir is the female athlete of Hafnarfjörður 2023 and Anton Sveinn McKee from the Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club is the male athlete of Hafnarfjörður 2023 (Anton's mother accepted the male athlete of the year award).

Nearly 400 individuals from Hafnarfjörður have won national titles this year. 

Every year, the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður holds an awards ceremony for athletes competing for teams from Hafnarfjörður, National champions, cup winners, Nordic champions, world champions and for special achievements, along with the selection of Hafnarfjörður's sportswoman, sportsman and sports team. The ceremony took place at the sports hall on Strandgata today. In 2023, nearly 400 individuals have won Icelandic championship titles with Hafnarfjörður teams, and they are especially congratulated on their achievement. At the ceremony, 9.9 million was allocated from a fund established by Rio Tinto in Iceland, ÍBH and the City of Hafnarfjörður, which is intended to support sports activities for under-18s. 

The 2023 Performance Team is the men's and women's team of the FH athletics department. 

The Hafnarfjörður sports team for 2023 is the men's and women's senior athletics team of Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar. The team performed brilliantly during the year, winning every athletics meet that counted towards points, and securing a total of 12 titles, having previously won 11 in 2022. Numerous victories were also achieved in the individual competitions of the Icelandic Championships and the FRÍ Cup competitions. 

Hafnarfjörður's 2023 Team of Excellence is the men's and women's senior athletics team at FH.

Elín Klara Þorkelsdóttir is the 2023 Sportswoman of Hafnarfjörður. 

The playmaker for Haukar's women's team in the Olís League, Elín Klara Þorkelsdóttir, was named the best and most promising player in the women's Olís League at the HSÍ awards ceremony last May, at just 18 years of age. Elín was also named Haukar's women's team player of the year at the handball section's end-of-season party. She was also an Icelandic champion with the women's 3rd division team, was named player of the final, and captained the senior team to the semi-finals. So far this season, Elín is the top scorer in the women's Olís Division.  Elín Klara was selected for the Iceland national team, which will take part in the World Championship in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, starting on 30 November, much to the great honour of Haukar. She has also played a major role in the senior national team's European Championship qualifiers this autumn. She has been a key player for the youth national teams and, among other things, travelled with the Iceland U19 team to the European Championship last summer, where the team secured qualification for the U20 World Championship final tournament next summer.  Despite her young age, 19-year-old Elín Klara has proven that she is one of the best handball players in Iceland at present. 

Anton Sveinn McKee is Hafnarfjörður's Sportsman of the Year 2023 

Anton Sveinn McKee is a swimmer from the Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club. Anton Sveinn is a member of the Icelandic national swimming team. In 2023, he won three Icelandic Championship titles in the 50, 100 and 200-metre breaststroke. At the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, over the summer, he qualified for the final and finished 7th in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:09.50. This time is faster than the A-standard for next year's Olympic Games in Paris, securing his place there. At the Small Nations Games in Gzira, he won a hat-trick of gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, and the 400m individual medley. He also won a silver medal at the European Championships in Romania in December in the 200m breaststroke in a 25-metre pool. Anton trains in Blacksburg, Virginia, with the professional team Virginia Tech University. He competes and trains with SH during all his holidays and visits to Iceland.
